Cassie Roberts, an ex-rodeo queen turned single mom, gets an urgent call to return home to Texas for her sick father, Marvin. Ashamed of her wayward past, Cassie plans to stay home only long enough to help her father get back on his feet. But when she sees Splash, her father’s prize-winning Quarter Horse, her plans change. Cassie wants to see Splash compete in the International Equestrian Games, and she wants the best trainer in east Texas to make it happen. But when Cassie meets Chase Eversoll, a handsome “cowboy” horse trainer, she gets more than she bargained for. As their work turns personal, Chase challenges Cassie to let go of her past and reminds her that reconciliation starts with forgiveness. “Texas Rein” explores the family dynamic when a prodigal returns, the gift of forgiveness, and the hope of second chances.
Dove Review

“Texas Rein” is a wonderful family movie that shows God doing a new thing and working everything out for the good in the end. Cassie Roberts (Beth Gouthro) lives in Virginia with her young son, Sam (Grayson Reed). Her boyfriend, Garrison (Ashley Smith), is pressuring her to move in with him. But then Cassie receives a call that her father, Marvin (Don Hartman), is having health issues, so she travels with Sam back home to Texas. Once she arrives, she and her dad have tension between them about the way she left in the past and how she no longer uses her talent to ride horses. While working on their relationship, Cassie meets Chase Eversoll (Greg Perrow), her father’s horse trainer, and Chase takes a liking to Cassie. Marvin believes Chase to be the perfect man for his daughter, due to his down-to-earth approach to life, his Christian faith, and his solid background with horses. But can Cassie leave her life in Virginia behind? And will her father get to ride “Splash,” a wonderful horse being prepared to compete?

The film features Erin Bethea (“Fireproof”) playing a wacky and funny character, Mandi Kesterson. Although Cassie questions why God allows some of the things He does, she sees God at work in the lives of those around her, including her father and Chase. The film features themes of sacrifice, love and forgiveness. The main biblical theme comes from Romans 8:28, that all things work together for good. We are pleased to award it our “Faith-Friendly” Seal for ages 12-plus. “Texas Rein” will “reign” you in.
